ABOUT US

“Martial Strength & Conditioning is not your average Personal training service.”

Unlock your potential through our unique approach to training, health and fitness.

We apply the very same focus as studying the ancient theory of martial arts, applying its virtues to a modern context and practice. This focus includes self-discipline, respect for all around you including yourself, and a constant drive for precision, to name a few. At the core of our philosophy, we believe the lessons taught by martial arts provides a means for our clients to constantly improve and strengthen their mental and physical character.

On a deeper level, Martial Strength & Conditioning considers the practice of martial arts, health and fitness a way of life. It is an aesthetic avenue to self-improvement, personal growth, and character development, encircling physical, spiritual, and moral aspects. The philosophical and physical commitment required in both the martial arts and in fitness training provides a passage for people to orient themselves and create focus in their lives. This can be applied to other aspects of their daily activities, and empowering individuals to live a happier and fuller life.

Hypertrophy

Corrective exercises should be easy to apply and a natural part of the prep sequence. We focus on decreasing impingement in joints that will be working hard and activating muscles that will contribute to the lifts executed.

Weight Loss

We individualise your flexibility and preparation routines to make sure your body is moving the best it can so it gets the most from your workouts. We select exercises and sequencing that maximises adherence and to provide consistency and keep you motivated to achieve your weight loss goals.

Workouts should support your efforts to be stronger and healthier and give your body a reason to adapt to exercise.

Health and Wellness

Corrective exercise selection should prioritise ease of completion and convenience. Daily strategies and maintenance of the human movement system will be helpful in maximising the health, fitness and recovery of the client with the primary goal of maintaining a level of health and wellness.

Workouts focus on improving strength and cardiovascular health. Part of maximising the health of your joints and muscles is maintaining the quality of your movement.

Athletic Performance

Movement preparation for strength and conditioning, practice and competition must include sequences that optimise flexibility, neuromuscular efficiency, movement quality and performance specific.

Moving with higher quality and efficiency positively impacts performance on the field and court. We provide targeted flexibility and strengthening strategies to optimise movement and body control.

Post-Rehabilitation

After a client has completed treatment and has been cleared by their healthcare provider to return to exercise our goal is to optimise efficiency in movement and restore function

Clinical Pilates is a form of physical exercise that focuses on posture, core stability, balance, control, strength, flexibility, and breathing.

These sessions are taught by Dr Jon Marshal (Osteopath) and are perfect for those with existing injuries. Exercises are carefully selected with these specific injuries and rehabilitation goals in mind. This ensures optimal gain while minimising the likely hood of injury aggravation.

Corrective exercise is the foundation and the starting point for all our programs whether your focus is hypertrophy, weight loss, health and wellness or athletic performance

Our aim is to help create and support the correct movement patterns to help your spine, joints and muscles be more efficient at handling loads. Corrective exercise also creates fewer movement compensations so you won’t be “wasting energy” because of inefficient movement.

Our priority is to take a long term view in restoring the optimal function and efficiency of the clients kinetic chain based on their individual assessment, results and needs.

Martial Arts

With 35 years of martial arts experience under our belt (pun intended!), Martial Strength & Conditioning can offer martial arts training in BJJ and Aikido. Incorporated into your training program, martial arts can offer more diversity to your exercise routines as well as endowing you with valuable new life skills.

Osteopathic Manual Medicine

When we strive to increase fitness levels, we must push our bodies to their limit to achieve change. Ineviteably, this will lead to muscle soreness after exercise. To ensure your body recovers quickly and remains in good health, we offer osteopathic treatments in conjunction with exercise to complement your training program.

Our osteopathic clinic is located nearby at Robinson Square, less than 5 minutes walk away. Visit the Back In Health Osteopathy website for appointments or more information.
